Booking a Private Driver for Dinner and Events Around Pinellas Beaches

By ViaGita Transportation · October 11, 2026

A beach evening can involve more than one destination: dinner, a show, a visit with friends and the ride home. Arranging transportation before you leave makes those moving parts easier to coordinate.

ViaGita offers private-driver services for locals and visitors across the Pinellas beaches, including the Redington communities, Madeira Beach, Indian Shores, Indian Rocks Beach, Treasure Island, St. Pete Beach and Clearwater Beach.

Decide whether you need a transfer or a dedicated driver

For a simple dinner reservation, a trip to the restaurant and a separately arranged return pickup may be enough. If you expect several stops or need a driver to remain available during an agreed period, ask about hourly service.

These arrangements are different. A return booking does not automatically mean the driver waits outside all evening. A dedicated hourly reservation should state the reserved hours, planned area and how changes or extra time are handled. See ViaGita's concierge and hourly driver services for the available options, then confirm what suits your itinerary.

Build the plan around your reservation or event time

Give your driver the time you need to arrive, not just the time you want to leave. Share the venue name, address and any ticket instructions that affect arrival. For a concert or sporting event, the parking and passenger pickup arrangements can be different from a normal restaurant drop-off.

Check the venue's current transportation guidance before travel. Agree on a meeting point that is permitted and easy to identify. A specific entrance or designated pickup area is more useful than “out front,” especially when a crowd leaves at the same time.

Include every passenger and every stop

Tell your driver how many people are traveling and whether the group starts from one location or several. Picking up friends in Indian Shores before dinner in another community is a different itinerary from a direct trip from a Madeira Beach hotel.

List planned stops in order, including the final destination. If you will carry luggage, mobility aids or other bulky items, mention those too. Confirm the vehicle capacity and any assistance requirements before finalizing the reservation.

Agree on the return plan before the evening starts

If your dinner end time is uncertain, discuss how much flexibility is possible. For an event, explain whether you expect to leave early or stay until the end. Ask how to communicate a change and what happens if the requested pickup time moves beyond the booked arrangement.

Save the driver's contact number and keep your phone charged. Share the plan with the other passengers so everyone knows where to meet. If your group splits up, communicate that change directly rather than assuming the original reservation now covers multiple separate rides.

What affects the quote?

The route, number of stops, reserved time, group size and waiting arrangements all help define the service you need. Ask for a quote based on your actual itinerary and confirm what is included. Discuss any additional time or route changes before adding them.

For an evening that includes drinks, arrange the ride home before going out. Tell your driver the final destination in advance so the return plan is clear.

A simple checklist for your booking

  • Date and passenger count.
  • Pickup address and required arrival time.
  • Restaurant or venue name and address.
  • All additional stops.
  • Return pickup plan or requested hourly period.
  • A contact number for the person coordinating the group.
